Born in Indiana, landscape artist John Ottis Adams attended Wabash College for two years then later studied art at the South Kensington
School of Art in London. Adams painted landscapes and became a key member of the Hoosier Group of Indiana painters. His early work portrayed dark tonalism, but later developed a lighter palette in the manner of impressionists. Adams’s works may be seen at various public
and private collections today.
