Guy Rose was born in San Gabriel, California in 1867. When Rose was young, he was accidentally shot in the face during a hunting trip. Due
to this unfortunate accident, Rose recuperated from this by begging to sketch with watercolors and oil paints. In 1884, Rose graduated from
Los Angeles High School and moved to San Francisco to begin studying art at the California School of Design. He then later attended the
Academie Julian in Paris. Rose has become one of California’s top impressionist painters of the late 19th century. His works are displayed at the Bowers Museum, Cleveland Museum, Laguna Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Oakland Museum, and Pasadena Art Institute.
