Born in San Antonio, Julian Onderonk quickly developed his love for art and moved to New York City at nineteen to attend several art
schools. After returning to Texas, Onderdonk focused on depicting the Texas Hill Country in his paintings. He became best known for his
bluebonnets. Onderdonk went on to establish himself as a great American Impressionist of this time. His landscapes were motivating
and furthered his career as an artist.
His impressionist landscapes were the inspiration for many more paintings of Texas wildflowers from other artists. Onderdonk’s work can be seen at various private and public collections. They have been exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Witte Museum.
