Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Hale began her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Boston where she studied under impressionist painters
Edmund Tarbell and William Merritt Chase. Hale is best known for her paintings portraying Boston society. After having her first child, Hale began sketching reflections of motherhood using soft lights over rich colors.
Hale has exhibited in Boston annually. Her work is displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts, the Phillips Collection, National Academy of Design, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
