Born in Pitcairn, New York, Lucy Angeline Bacon’s art career took off while studying under great French Impressionists in Paris. Before going to France, Bacon attended the Art Students League of New York and the National Academy of Design in New York. While staying in Paris, she attended the Academie Colarossi. After some time in France, Bacon moved to San Jose, California where she taught at Washburn School. Due to some health issues, painting started to become difficult to do full-time. in 1905, she gave up her painting career, but continued to teach art in San Francisco. Bacon’s work has been displayed at various collections.
