Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Mabel Woodward became one of the most prominent female artists in the late 19th century and early 20th Century. Woodward studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and later the Art Students League in New York. She worked under many major impressionistic painters which had a great influence on her artistic career. Woodward is best known for her beach scenes, as well as her European scenes, villages, still life, and flowers. She later became a member of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Providence Art Club. Woodward’s work can be seen in many public and private collections.
