Born in Houston, Texas: American Sculptor Melvin Edwards graduated from University of Southern California. He also studied at Los Angeles City College and Los Angeles Art County Institute and became a teacher at the renowned Chouinard Art Institute.
Inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, the “Lynch Fragments” is one of Melvin Edward’s most well known works, which he created in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Edwards has more than a dozen one-man shows almost 50 group exhibitions. His works have been displayed at Whitney Museum of American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the California African American Museum.
