Born on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Richard Howard Hunt was an African American sculptor. As a young boy, Hunt showed great interest in art having his mother as an artist. Hung went to Junior School of the Art Institute and Art Institute of Chicago to develop his skills as an artist. After getting positive responses from critics, his works were exhibited at the Artists of Chicago and Vicinity Show and the American Show. At the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, he was one of the youngest artists to exhibit his works. Contemporary social and political issues can be seen through his sculptures.
